2008 Mason Reserve Sauvignon Blanc

$25.00 Quantity:
$300.00 / Case

Vineyard Notes:

Made from 40-year old Sauvignon Blanc vineyard; planted on sandy loam, lying on top of a volcanic cinder cone in the Russian River Appellation.  The fruit was harvested at 22.8° Brix with ideal acidity and minerality.  The Sonoma Valley experiences heavy fog shrouding the vines late into the morning, bathing in the afternoon sun creating a long, balanced ripening season for explosive fruit flavors.

Winemaking Notes:

100% Sauvignon Blanc.  The wine was crushed and fermented for 35 days.  Upon completing fermentation, the finished wine was racked to stainless steel drums where the primary lees were distributed equally across the barrels.  The barrels were stirred 3 to 5 times a week for 4 consecutive months.  This wine saw no oak.

Tasting Notes:

Luscious, full grapefruit nose; earthy flavors surrounded by a rich, yeasty, leesy, character.  Layers of grapefruit paired with an elegant mineral essence in the front mouth; round full mid palate, followed by a crisp, long lingering finish.
