2007 Mason Merlot

Vineyard Notes:

Growing right in the heart of the Napa Valley, we sourced our Merlot from the Oak Knoll District.  Located just north of Napa proper, the heavy maritime influence from the San Pablo Bay cloaks the mornings with dense fog.  Afternoons characteristically soak in sun which produces the expressive fruit flavors and round, supple tannic structure- the true sign of a great Merlot.

Winemaking Notes:

100% Merlot.  The grapes were picked at a modest 24.8 Brix which is responsible for the food friendly flavors and balance typical of a Mason Merlot.  Aged for 18 months in new and used French oak, the suppleness and bottle boutique scintillates the senses.

Tasting Notes:

Bright, blackberry jam with a full round mouth.  Great balance and structure with hints of spice and vanilla, the tannins are resolved and mature- a sign of age-ability.  Very classy and elegant, a great dinner red to compliment the main course!
